This new concept with the "Everything Goes" section and the "Vanilla" section is too complicated. There is a lot of grey areas and everyone's perception of whether a particular request is vanilla or not is different.

If you've noticed, this time round, there aren't many people participating. Usually by now, there would be like thousands of comments. Is there any way that you can go back and use the old format where we just post our request?

Um, you can do that now, in Everything Post, it means everything.

I don't SEPARATE the type of prompts, precisely because there are gray areas, if you aren't sure if something would be triggering, don't post it in the Vanilla post, just the Everything Post.


If you want to post a kink prompt, post it in Everything Post, AND then, you think about it, only if you are sure that it's not triggering, should you post it in the Vanilla post, if not, just leave it.


DUDE, this is just like the regular kink meme, the vanilla post is just an additional space for people who normally miss out on kink memes altogether, you can just ignore it if you don't feel like Accommodating them, but I'm disappointed that there are people who would ask me to remove something inclusive that doesn't even exclude them!

I have to agree. We hardly have ANY participants, both fillers and prompters. I'm actually quite disappointed in this particular Kinkmeme... maybe it's just lack of promotion.. i'm not sure but it still makes me sad.

There is quite a bit of grey areas between "vanilla" and "everything goes" The no violence thing I get, but there's a lot of other things that I'm not sure where to post. What's "vanilla" is usually a matter of opinion, I think vanilla is just two people (homosexual or heterosexual) and not much else.. lots of fluff, whereas some people think threesomes and hot wax are vanilla. It really depends on your own personal kink in real life and where other kinks fall on the spectrum. Like someone who is into S&M reguarlay... their view of "vanilla" is going to be a bit different than someone who has, for example, only has been with one or two people and the "kinkiest" they've done is maybe some really bad dirty talk.

Anyways my point is that if there's going to be this delineation between the two at least have a very clearly compiled kinks list of what is allowed on the "vanilla" post. "Everything goes" is self-explanatory but the vanilla post is where I think things are going haywire.

Hi. Just to let you know, the meme now has a Pinboard account (http://pinboard.in/u:cm_kinkmeme). The Google search thing wasn't working for me (it only brought back one Hotch/Reid, for example), so I thought, hey, why not. Because I'm impatient! I'll catch up with the prompts as and when.

I actually prefer it if Everyone:
- Post as Anon with their fic withint the kink meme, with a link to their journal at the end of the comment (unless they want to stay anon, I have done that filling some truly wrong memes at times lol).

This way, prompts and fills get /checked out/ equally, regardless of ids.


As is, while replies (excepting author replying to repliers) and prompts have to be ANON, fic post can be in, but I really think the atmosphere can be improved by everyone anon.

Im new but so far I haven't seen a 'fills post'...but again Im really new to this so I might have accidentally missed it...but do you guys have a fills post? You know a page where people post updates/completed fills, a short summary with what the link has, and the characters/pairings?

Anyone here have any kinks that have been either specifically inspired or ruined by shows like Criminal Minds?

Inspired: The Alpha Hotness of Hotch when he's beating the crap out of bad guys. The one going around in clips is the one where Hotch takes off his jacket and his tie in preparation to kick some threatening convict ass in "Damage", when he was already tense from being served divorce papers.
It goes all the way back to Season 1 though, in "The Tribe", his sleeve half pulled up, he took down a cult that was going to gun down a school with a baton an his fists, it was so...shiver me timbers, watching him stalk them and take them down one by one in a dark, like a very graceful and deadly predator.

Restrained Violence? Controlled Violence? Is that a kink? That I love how dark Hotch can be AND how well he controls and wield it? His wife serves him divorce papers, and he gets this, where he seem to relish the chance to beat the crap out of someone, not her though, because he doesn't want to be his father, but the hurricane is there. It's so wrong, but I like the dark AUs where Hotch goes dark and Haley doesn't leave, but I would have liked it better if it was more Gone With the Wind.



Ruined Kink: To be restrained and very very very MILDLY electrically shocked. Dry autumn, I get plenty of static surprises, it's not, entirely bad, although it's definitely shocking. This is currently completely ruined due to the association with The Butcher, who electrically burned one of his victims beyond recognition, plus the pedo theRapist in the doll people episode who used it to further torture his victim into silence. Yikes.

My fill turned out a bit long. i don't mind breaking it up, but it takes forever to correct the spacing and punctuation. Is there any way to post the whole thing as an anon. link? I can just link to my LJ, but the request seems to be to start anonymous and then put your own link at the bottom. Suggestion?

Well, the /rule/ was this: No anon unless you are posting fic / replying to those who have reply to your fic (only authors can un-anon)

...but with the strong /encouragement/ that everybody stays anon. At many memes, people have expressed it feels more comfortable, and it's fun to try and guess who's the writer (or to only find out who is the writer after you read the fic).

So in summary:
1) It's totally rules okay for you to post it in your journal and then post a link to the meme there. Or to post it to bau_fic or something and then post a link to bau_fic here (I'm still :( when I come across dead links).

2) If this wasn't a misunderstanding of what you can and cannot do, and you would actually LIKE to stay anon to the end (I have written things for kink memes that I will NEVER own up to), message me and we'll figure something out.

Hi, I saw this Kink Meme is now closed (temporarily) and an new kink has started. I wanted to know why a new one was started since there are so many unfilled promps and a little over 900 post. I'm new to Kink Meme and wanted to know if this was normal.

Also, it says it's closed temporarily. When it opens again, will there be two kinks open?

Why there are two kink memes

Most kink memes (that I know, Watchmen, Naruto, Death Note, Glee) runs forever, until it runs out of space, and new ones is made then, sometimes a new journal is made (or it's hosted by a new LJ), when the old one dies. Naruto have SEVERAL kink meme 1 due to fandom decentralization.

Some kink memes run more like pornothorns I'm more familiar with (in terms of form), instead of a post made where kinks are left, it's
a) time-limited (in the case of ansera, the current one runs a week)
b) ...because: of higher involvement from the mod throughout the kink meme, he/she have the free time to very actively mod the meme during its time limit, masterlist, tags, etc.

In my most recent fandom, Sanctuary, we very nicely had both, a timeless kink meme, and a limited one, labeled a pornficiathcation (I'm so mispelling that oops)


I made Kink Meme 5, because 4 was closed, and I made it in the long term lazy mod model: It's google searchable so I don't have to index it, I'm just going to leave it open forever and I don't have the irl time to be too involved. (If there be trolls, please LJ Message me, and I'll get to it - I'm still mod of some really old fandoms where I put up a new mod wanted post and nooobody showed up, so I just stopped looking at it, but I still respond to troll alert messages.)

Now, the problem with a fandom kink meme that Runs Forever is this:
1. It could die a slow death, like marvel_kink, and we weren't even sure it was dead for a while until someone had to make marvel kink 2 because the first one couldn't be reached at all.
2. People couldn't take turn hosting it, this is important because different hosts have different rules and variety is the spice of life.


So when a time limited kink meme (though I think of it as a pornothorn), especially since it's Ansera who have hosted them 1-4 already, I'm just going to pause the timeless one, because we'll still be here when it's over.


So no, there won't be two kink memes at once. Kink Meme 5 will stay close until 6 is over, and then we resume, until where I have to work out some math of leaving enough comment space for each prompt out of the LJ comments amount limit to see if I have to make a new post.
